The Medieval Abberley Project was launched on Monday 3rd October 2014 in front of a large and enthusiastic audience in the Village Hall. We were all welcomed by Lisa Walker and then Jo Roche set the scene with an overview of what is already known and why there is a case for investigating the area more thoroughly. Sue Beardsmore from the Heritage Lottery Fund explained the HLF involvement. Emma Hancox discussed the work that is planned and how the local community could get involved and other activities were explained by Project Director Kate Andrew. More details of these activities are on the home page.
Following questions and suggestions from the audience there were some welcome refreshments and time for everyone to sign-up for a chance to become involved in this fascinating local project. This could be the opportunity to learn research techniques at The Hive or training to carry out field and hedgerow surveys or to take part in a dig on The Glebe field.
