Our community history research team will have a busy job on their hands this year!
Members of the Abberley Hills Preservation Society, Abberley WI and eager village residents will work together with members of the Worcestershire Archives & Archaeology Service to carry out 2 community excavations, archive research and a number of field walks to try to discover the medieval heart of the village.
Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service works to protect, preserve, manage, record, interpret and promote the history and historic environment of Worcestershire.
Based in The Hive, Worcester, the service manages and makes publicly available the county’s original archives. The service also provides information, advice and community support on the archaeology and historic environment, from advising on the implications of planning applications to helping local groups and societies carry out research and excavation in their area. The service has a dedicated outreach team with experience of a range of educational activities and archaeological resources.
